ABYSSIC – BETONG, OSLO
En høstkveld fylt med kald vind, kanskje det var et godt tegn for hva vi vil se i Betong, men da jeg kom dit, Oh !! Det var overraskende lite folk der … men det ble bedre etter hvert og når ABYSSIC inntok scenen var rommet halvfull.
Dette var første gang jeg skulle se dette bandet og av det lille jeg hadde hørt av musikken et par dager tidligere så var jeg spendt på om fremføringen stod til forventningene, noe jeg fikk bekreftelse på ganske raskt. Mine forventninger var svært høy med de svært kvalitetsmessige og erfarne musikere og de skuffet ikke.
Endelig var bandet klar til å starte showet og fra den første strofe forstod jeg at dette ville være en av de ganger et band forlater deg med munnen åpen for mange av de som var fremmøtte. Med en blanding av atmosfærisk black metal/melodiske og gutturale stemmer rive huden seg og du står igjen med gåsehud.
En langsom metall, men som jeg nevnte tidligere, melodisk og atmosfærisk og noen snev av fart som ikke gjør at det blir ensformig der musikken omslutter oss i sin melodi.
En av de store overraskelser var å se at Ole Karlsen (Gromth) hadde ansvaret for de rivende skrikene og som perfekt supplerte sangene. Dessverre hadde de bare hadde 30 minutter å spille og med låtene «A Funeral Elegy» og «Sombre Dreams» forlatt de oss med ønsket om å høre mer … Heldigvis vil debutalbumet bli utgitt snart, bra for André Aaslie og co. Nok en gang viser han og hans bandkamerater at de kan overraske oss med sin musikk og vi vil helt sikkert høre mer fra dette bandet i fremtiden.

Una noche de otoño llena de viento frío, tal vez era una buena señal para lo que veríamos en Betong, pero al llegar al lugar, Vaya que sorpresa!! No había mucha gente aun pero esto fue mejorando con el paso de los minutos y para cuando ABYSSIC subo a escena, ya había media sala llena.
Esta seria la primera vez que vería a esta banda, la poca música que había escuchado unos días atrás, me tenían con la intriga de ver a la banda en vivo y corroborar lo que yo ya había pensado.
Mis expectativas siempre estuvieron muy en alto, ya que son músicos de calidad y experimentados y no quedaron mal.
Finalmente la banda estaba ya lista para iniciar su show y desde el primer tono entendí que este seria uno de esos shows que dejaría con la boca abierta a muchos de los que estuvimos ahi, con una mezcla de black metal atmosférico/melódico y voces guturales y desgarrantes hacían que la piel se pusiera de pollo.
Un metal lento pero como lo he mencionado antes melódico y atmosférico y algunos destellos de velocidad lo que hace que no se vuelvan monótonos en donde la música nos envuelve dentro su melodía.
Una de las grandes sorpresas fue a ver que Ole Karlsen (Gromth) estaba a cargo de los gritos desgarrantes y el cual complementaba perfectamente las canciones. Desafortunadamente solo tenían 30 minutos para tocar y con los temas «A Funeral Elegy» y «Sombre Dreams» solo nos dejaron con ganas de escuchar mas… Afortunadamente pronto saldrá su album debut, bien por Andre Aaslie y co. Una vez mas nos volvió a sorprender con su música y seguramente escucharemos mas de esta banda en un futuro.

One autumn night full of cold wind, maybe it was a good sign for what we would see in Betong, but when I arrived, Oh !! There was surprisingly not many people there … but it got better with the passage of minutes and when ABYSSIC took the stage the room was half ful.
This would be the first time I’d see this band, and that little music I had heard a few days ago, I had the intrigue of seeing the band live and corroborate what I had thought.
My expectations were very high, as they are quality and experienced musicians and they didn’t disappointed.
Finally the band was ready to start the show and from the first pitch I understood that this would be one of those shows that leave you with your mouth open for many who were there, with a mixture of atmospheric black metal/melodic and guttural voices tearing your skin to chicken skin.
A slow metal but as I mentioned before the melodic and atmospheric and some touch of speed which not makes it become monotonous where the music envelops us in its melody.
One of the big surprises was to see that Ole Karlsen (Gromth) was in charge of the tearing screams and which perfectly complemented the songs. Unfortunately they only had 30 minutes to play and with the songs «A Funeral Elegy» and «Sombre Dreams» they only left us wanting to hear more … Fortunately their debut album will be released soon, good for Andre Aaslie and co. Once again he and his mates surprised us with their music and we will surely hear more of this band in the future.
