– En super aften på Kulturpubben i Lillestrøm
Vi har fulgt Hole in the Sky, Black Sabbath-tributebandet, helt siden oppstarten. De har også vært en del av Hard & Heavy Tour og spilt på vår egen festival Canarias Hard & Heavy Meeting flere ganger – noe som ikke er tilfeldig. Bandet har nemlig en egen evne til å dra i gang både stemning og allsang. For noen år siden la de årene på hylla, men savnet etter både scenen og publikummet ble tydeligvis for stort. Årene ble hentet frem igjen, nytt øvingslokale ble sikret, og bandet fant raskt tilbake til flyten – klare for en ny runde med udødelige klassikere fra Black Sabbath-katalogen.
Selv hadde jeg overvintret på Gran Canaria, men rakk akkurat hjem i tide til kveldens seanse på Kulturpubben i Lillestrøm. En solid gjeng fra Helvete Magazine + venner møtte opp for å sjekke hvordan ståa var etter “oppstandelsen”. Lokalet var stappfullt – bokstavelig talt til randen – og det var både hyggelig og imponerende å se så mange møte opp for kveldens eneste band. Og selv om de sto alene på plakaten, leverte de til gjengjeld to solide timer.
De åpnet sterkt med “War Pigs”, og fulgte opp med godbiter som “Supernaut”, “Children of the Grave”, “Under the Sun”, “Sabbath Bloody Sabbath”, “Tomorrow’s Dream”, “Hole in the Sky” og “Iron Man” for å nevne noen, før de rundet av med “Paranoid”. Publikum var på ingen måte klare for å gi seg der, så bandet svarte med en liten bonus: Led Zeppelins “Immigrant Song”. Og for å sitere klassisk svensk barne-TV: “nu är det slut” – akkurat som i “Fem myror är fler än fyra elefanter”.
For undertegnede var dette uten tvil den beste konserten jeg har sett med bandet. Lydbildet satt som støpt – gitar og bass smeltet sømløst sammen, og et noe lavere lydånivå (spesielt på skarpen) ga en langt mer behagelig og balansert opplevelse. Vokalen låt også bedre enn jeg kan huske, selv om den aldri har vært noe å utsette på tidligere heller.
Alt i alt: et løft på alle fronter, kombinert med et publikum som storkoste seg. Resultatet? Tipp topp – tommel opp fra oss rocke- og metalidioter, som noen liker å kalle oss 😉
Hemos seguido a Hole in the Sky, la banda tributo a Black Sabbath, desde sus inicios. También han formado parte del Hard & Heavy Tour y han tocado varias veces en nuestro festival Canarias Hard & Heavy Meeting, algo que no es casualidad: tienen una habilidad especial para crear ambiente y hacer cantar al público. Hace algunos años colgaron los instrumentos, pero la nostalgia por el escenario y el público fue demasiado fuerte. Volvieron a reunirse, encontraron un nuevo local de ensayo y recuperaron rápidamente el ritmo, listos para otra ronda de clásicos inmortales del catálogo de Black Sabbath.
Yo mismo había pasado el invierno en Gran Canaria, pero llegué justo a tiempo para el evento de esa noche en Kulturpubben, en Lillestrøm. Un buen grupo de Helvete Magazine + amigos se reunió para ver cómo sonaban tras su “resurrección”. El local estaba completamente lleno, hasta los topes, lo cual fue tanto agradable como impresionante. Y aunque eran la única banda de la noche, ofrecieron dos horas sólidas de música.
Abrieron con “War Pigs”, seguidos de temas como “Supernaut”, “Children of the Grave”, “Under the Sun”, “Sabbath Bloody Sabbath”, “Tomorrow’s Dream”, “Hole in the Sky” y “Iron Man” entre otros, cerrando el set principal con “Paranoid”. El público quería más, así que la banda respondió con un extra: “Immigrant Song” de Led Zeppelin. Y para terminar, como en el clásico programa infantil sueco: “nu är det slut” (Ya esta terminado).
Para quien escribe, este fue sin duda el mejor concierto que les he visto. El sonido fue impecable: guitarra y bajo perfectamente equilibrados, y un volumen algo más moderado (especialmente en la caja) que mejoró mucho la experiencia. La voz también sonó mejor que nunca.
En resumen: una mejora en todos los aspectos, combinada con un público entregado. Resultado final: perfecto – pulgar arriba de parte de nosotros, los “locos del rock y el metal”
We’ve followed Hole in the Sky, the Black Sabbath tribute band, since day one. They’ve also been part of the Hard & Heavy Tour and played our Canarias Hard & Heavy Meeting festival several times – and for good reason. They have a special ability to ignite both atmosphere and crowd singalongs. A few years back, they hung up their instruments, but the urge to play – and the energy from the crowd – proved too strong. They got back together, found a new rehearsal space, and quickly got back into the groove, ready to deliver another round of timeless Black Sabbath classics.
I had spent the winter in Gran Canaria myself, but made it back just in time for the show at Kulturpubben in Lillestrøm. A solid crew from Helvete Magazine + friends showed up to see how things sounded after their “resurrection”. The venue was absolutely packed, which was both impressive and great to see. And even though they were the only band on the bill, they delivered a full two-hour set.
They kicked things off with “War Pigs”, followed by tracks like “Supernaut”, “Children of the Grave”, “Under the Sun”, “Sabbath Bloody Sabbath”, “Tomorrow’s Dream”, “Hole in the Sky” and “Iron Man” among others, before closing the main set with “Paranoid”. The crowd clearly wanted more, so the band delivered an encore: Led Zeppelin’s “Immigrant Song”. And to quote classic Swedish kids’ TV: “nu är det slut”. (The End)
For me, this was easily the best gig I’ve seen them play. The sound was spot on – guitar and bass blended perfectly, and a slightly lower volume (especially on the snare) made for a much more balanced experience. The vocals also sounded better than ever, even though they’ve never really been an issue before.
All in all: a step up across the board, combined with a crowd having an absolute blast. Final verdict? Top notch – thumbs up from us rock and metal “idiots”, as some like to call us
